The 2016 RAV 4 is now available to order and will become the first full hybrid vehicle that Toyota will take into the compact SUV market. The RAV 4 Hybrid will be offered in both two wheel and all wheel versions, powered by a hybrid system that uses a 2.5 litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine and a powerful electric motor. The vehicle can get from 0-62 mph in 8.7 seconds and its combined cycle fuel consumption is a class leading 57.7mpg, while CO2 emissions are from 115g/km.
The hybrid leads a revised engine line-up for the RAV 4, including a new 2.0 litre D-4D turbodiesel which offers 141 bhp/105kW, at the same time targeting 123g/km CO2 emissions. There is also a 2.0 litre Valvematic petrol unit which is available in a choice of manual transmission or CVT. This version has CO2 emissions from 149/km.
Toyota have upgraded the equipment specifications across the RAV 4 range and have introduced Toyota Safety Sense, a package of active safety and driver assistance features, as an option on all versions of RAV 4 beyond the entry point model.
There is a new five-grade line up of improved equipment specifications on the RAV 4. The Active grade features the new 2.0 D-4D diesel engine and is equipped with a whole range of extra features as standard. This includes Toyota Touch 2 multimedia system with touchscreen, six speaker audio system with DAB radio, cruise control, 17 inch alloys, LED daytime running lights, rear privacy glass and electric door mirrors.
The Business Edition, which is also powered by the diesel engine, has additional features such as Toyota Touch 2 with Go navigation, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, automatic headlights and wipers, rear-view camera and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The hybrid/front wheel drive only grade is exclusive to Business Edition Plus and comes with LED front and rear lights, a power tailgate, keyless entry and push button start.
All three powertrains and front and all-wheel drive options are offered in Icon trim. Additional features include 18-inch machined finish alloy wheels, LED headlamps, combination leather and Alcantara upholstery, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and an Alcantara dashboard finish.
The Excel models adopt the full Toyota Touch 2 with Go package, plus leather upholstery, roof rails and front and rear parking sensors.
